That’s a whole lotta money, far more than most people make in a lifetime!
Now, don’t go thinkin’ that Chip’s the only one makin’ big money. There’s others too, like the fella who coaches the men’s basketball team, Michael Cronin. He’s takin’ home a mighty fine paycheck too. Heck, in 2022, he wasn’t too far behind Chip Kelly. That’s just the way it is out there, them coaches are like kings when it comes to salaries.
And, if you think that’s somethin’, just take a gander at the whole gang of UCLA coaches. All of ‘em together, they’re gonna make a record $10,172,500 in salary and bonuses this year! That’s an increase of 3.2% from last year, so you know they’re doin’ pretty darn good for themselves.
Now, don’t get confused though, not everyone at UCLA makes that kind of money. The regular folks who work there, like the ones grading papers and whatnot, they earn a bit less. I hear tell that the average salary for them workers is about $80,967 a year. That ain’t too bad, but it sure ain’t near what them coaches are pullin’ in!
In fact, back in 2022, UCLA reported that they had a total of 12,801 folks makin’ over $100,000 a year. But even with all that money flowin’, not everybody’s rakin’ in the big bucks. I reckon the average worker probably doesn’t even get half of what them coaches get, even though they’re doin’ hard work.
To put it simply, if you’re lookin’ to be a coach at UCLA, you’re in for some serious dough. The job comes with a lot of responsibility, sure, but it sure looks like it pays off in the end. And, with the kind of pay those coaches are makin’, it seems like it’d be hard to turn down if you’re lucky enough to get that kinda gig!
Now, don’t be thinkin’ that this is just the way it is at UCLA. All the schools, especially them big ones like UCLA, they’re throwin’ money around to get the best coaches they can. So, if you’ve got the right skills and the right opportunities, you could be makin’ big money too someday.
