Okay, so I’ve been messing around with Tracer in Overwatch 2, trying to really dial in my keybinds to get that extra edge. I’ve always felt like my default setup was holding me back a bit, so I decided to dive in and see what I could improve.
The Experiment Begins
First, I jumped into the practice range. Just me, some bots, and a whole lot of button mashing. I started by just playing a few rounds with the default controls, really paying attention to what felt awkward or slow.

The biggest thing I noticed was how often I was taking my fingers off WASD to hit Blink or Recall. That split second of losing directional control can be the difference between life and death for Tracer, so I knew that had to change.
Making Changes
- Blink: I moved Blink from Shift to my right mouse button. It felt weird at first, but having it right there under my finger made a huge difference. It’s so much faster to react and zip around now.
- Recall: This one was tricky. I experimented with putting it on a side mouse button (if you have one, it’s super handy), but I eventually settled on ‘E’. It’s close enough to WASD that I don’t lose much movement, but it’s also distinct enough that I don’t accidentally hit it.
- Melee Because I had put Blink on my right mouse button,so I have to change my Melee key,I put it on ‘F’.
- Pulse Bomb: I’m not good with aiming it with the mouse, I kept it on ‘Q’.
Testing and Refining
After making those changes, I hopped into some quick play games to see how it felt in a real match. It definitely took some getting used to, especially the Blink change. I probably died a few embarrassing deaths while my muscle memory was rewiring itself!
But after a few hours, it started to click. I was blinking around corners, recalling out of danger, and generally feeling way more fluid and responsive. My aim even felt a bit better, probably because I wasn’t contorting my hand to reach awkward keys anymore.
The Verdict
This setup is definitely working better for me. It’s not perfect, and I’m still tweaking things here and there, but it’s a huge improvement over the default. The biggest takeaway for me is that it’s worth taking the time to customize your controls to fit your playstyle. Don’t be afraid to experiment and find what works best for you!
So, if you’re a Tracer main feeling a little sluggish, give these keybinds a try. It might just give you that extra boost you need to climb the ranks!
