Alright, so I decided to dive deep into “Lies of P” today, specifically messing around with all those crank combos. Here’s how it went down.
Getting Started
First, I booted up the game and loaded my save file. I wanted a fresh start, so I made sure I had plenty of Ergo and all the crank types available. You know, the usual – Advance, Technique, Motivity, and the Balanced ones.

Experiment Time
I headed over to Eugénie at Hotel Krat. That’s where the magic happens, right? I started with some basic weapons I already upgraded a bit, like the Electric Coil Stick and the Greatsword of Fate. The fun part began when I started slapping different cranks on them.
- Motivity Crank: I used this on the Greatsword of Fate first. Holy smokes, did it get heavy! The damage went up, but it felt like swinging a truck. Definitely for a strength build.
- Technique Crank: Slapped this on the Electric Coil Stick. It became way faster, and the scaling shifted to Technique, obviously. I was dodging and weaving like a pro, but the raw damage took a hit.
- Advance Crank: This one was interesting. I tried it on a few weapons, and it seemed best suited for ones that already had some elemental damage. Made my Electric Coil even more shocking!
- Balanced Crank: Honestly, I used this as a sort of “reset” when I didn’t like how a combo was turning out. It just brought the weapon back to its default scaling.
The Grind
I spent a good couple of hours just trying out different combinations. I even grabbed some weapons I hadn’t used much before, like the Acidic Crystal Spear, it got way more using. I’d swap the handles and blades, then tinker with the cranks until I found something that felt good. Some combos were surprisingly good, while others were total duds.
Testing it all
After messing around with different weapons and cranks, I needed to find out whether it’s useful.
So I went to the training yard, found those dummies. Then started my test with different types of weapons. And you know what? After several hit and try, I finally made some deadly cranks.

My Findings (So Far)
It’s all about finding what works for your playstyle. I tend to prefer faster weapons, so I gravitated towards Technique builds. But I can see the appeal of a heavy-hitting Motivity build if you like that slow, powerful feel.
Also, and I can not stress this enough, make notes! It’s easy to use too many materials.
I’m still experimenting, but that’s the beauty of this system. It’s like a puzzle, trying to find the perfect combination of weapon, handle, and crank. And when you find it, it’s super satisfying.
