Okay, so I’ve been hearing a lot about this “carnivore diet” thing. Seems pretty extreme, right? All meat, all the time. But then I stumbled upon this idea of a “gray zone” carnivore approach, and it piqued my interest. It’s basically about finding your sweet spot on the carnivore spectrum, not necessarily going full-on lion mode.
I decided to give it a shot, see what all the fuss was about. I’m not gonna lie, I love my veggies and fruits, so the thought of cutting them out completely felt… daunting. This gray zone thing seemed like a good compromise.

My Experiment Begins
First thing I did? I started by simply increasing my meat intake. More steak, more chicken, more fish. I didn’t cut anything out at first, just focused on eating more of the animal products. I figured this would be a good way to ease into it.
I noticed pretty quickly that I felt fuller for longer. Like, way longer. I wasn’t snacking nearly as much between meals, which was a nice surprise. My energy levels also felt more stable throughout the day. No more mid-afternoon crashes!
Tweaking and Adjusting
After a week or so of just eating more meat, I started experimenting with reducing some plant-based foods. I began with the obvious stuff – cutting back on bread, pasta, and processed grains. That wasn’t too hard, honestly. I felt better without them anyway.
Then, I started to play around with fruits and veggies. Some days, I’d have a big salad with my steak. Other days, I’d skip the salad and just have the steak. I really tried to listen to my body and see how it reacted to different combinations.
- Week 1: More meat, no restrictions on plants.
- Week 2: Cut out grains, still ate fruits and veggies.
- Week 3: Experimented with different levels of fruit and veggie intake.
- Week 4: Focused on how I felt, adjusting as needed.
Finding My Gray Zone
After a month of this, I think I’ve found my personal “gray zone.” It’s definitely not strict carnivore, but it’s also not my old way of eating. Here’s what I found to work for me:
- I have mainly Focus on meat and fish as my primary sources of calories.
- I’ve Cut out all grains, most of the processed foods.
- I’ve Included small amounts of low-sugar fruits like berries.
- I’ve added some non-starchy veggies, like leafy greens, with most meals, if i feel good, I will add more.
It’s all about finding what works best for you. This gray zone carnivore thing is a great way to experiment and see how your body responds. I’m feeling pretty good, and I’m definitely going to keep exploring this way of eating.
