Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with Baldur’s Gate 3, specifically that Arcane Tower everyone’s been talking about. I’d heard there were some tricky puzzles and cool loot, so I figured, why not? Here’s how it went down.
Getting Started
First things first, I had to actually find the darn tower. It’s in the Underdark, which, if you haven’t been there yet, is a whole other can of worms. I won’t bore you with the details of that journey, but let’s just say it involved a lot of jumping, some angry mushrooms, and a near-death experience with a giant spider. Good times.

Once I finally stumbled upon the Arcane Tower, I realized it was locked up tighter than a drum. No way in through the front door. I spent a good ten minutes circling the place like an idiot before I noticed some glowing mushrooms growing on the side. “Aha!” I thought, “Secret entrance!”
I jumped from mushroom to mushroom – and let me tell you, my character is not graceful – and managed to land on a balcony. Finally, I was in!
The Elevator Puzzle
The inside of the tower was pretty cool, all dusty and magical-looking. But the main thing was this big, broken elevator in the center. Clearly, I needed to get that thing working. There were these weird, glowing plants all over the place, and I remembered reading something about needing “Sussur Bloom” to power the tower.
- Found some Sussur Blooms: Back outside, near those jumpy mushrooms, I found a whole bunch of these blue, glowing flowers. Grabbed a handful.
- Powering the Generator: I found the generator thingy on the bottom floor and shoved a Sussur Bloom in. Boom! Lights came on, elevator started humming. Progress!
Dealing with the Turrets
Of course, it couldn’t be that easy. As soon as the elevator started moving, these magical turrets popped up and started blasting me. Rude! I tried dodging, but those things had some serious aim.
My first attempt ended with my character looking like a crispy critter. On my second try, I figured out I could use spells like “Misty Step” to teleport behind the turrets and smash them. Much better. Also, hiding behind pillars helped. Who knew?
The Robot and the Rhymes
At the top of the tower, I met this robot dude named Bernard. He started spouting poetry at me, and I quickly realized this was another puzzle. He wanted specific lines from these books scattered around the room.

The books with the answers are:
- The Roads to Darkness
- Threadbare Book
Here’s the answers to the poetry quiz that i use.
Bernard: “There is a light that bright within this city.”
- Or art thou friend, a rescue from my lonely wake?
Bernard: “How can I trust? How will I ever know?”
- How can I show myself, my darkest me?
Bernard: “I only want a friend, I miss the somber days.”
- I’d gladly feast on you to sate me.
Bernard: “The silence stretches on – I’m all alone, please speak!”

- There is no more, for now, but mournful silence.
After some trial and error (and a lot of frantic page-flipping), I managed to give him the right lines. He turned friendly, and I got access to the good stuff – some sweet loot and a cool view from the top of the tower!
Wrapping Up
All in all, the Arcane Tower was a fun little adventure. It took me a bit to figure everything out, but that’s part of the fun, right? Plus, I got some new gear and bragging rights. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to find the next challenge. Wish me luck!
