Okay, so I wanted this “big ticker” thing for my, uh, Honkai Star Rail gameplay. You know, to keep better track of warps and stuff. I’d seen some folks online using them, and it looked pretty neat. So, I started digging.
The Hunt Begins
First, I just Googled around – “big ticker HSR,” “HSR counter,” things like that. Found some Reddit posts, some forum threads, but nothing really concrete. Lots of people talking about it, but not many showing how to do it. Frustrating!

Then I stumbled upon some mentions of using external programs, like OBS overlays. That sounded promising! I use OBS all the time for streaming, so I figured, “Why not?”
Getting My Hands Dirty
I messed around with OBS’s text sources first. You know, just adding a basic text box and manually updating it. It worked, kinda, but it was a total pain. Every time I did a warp, I had to alt-tab, find the OBS window, change the number… ugh. No way I was doing that for hundreds of pulls.
I knew there had to be a way to automate this. Some people were talking about scripts, but I’m not a coder. At all. Like, I can barely write a “Hello, world!” program. So, that was a dead end for me, initially.
More Digging, More Confusion
I kept searching, looking for pre-made solutions. Found some complicated-looking Python scripts, some weird websites that promised to do it… I tried a few, but they either didn’t work, looked super sketchy, or were way too complicated for my non-coder brain.
A Glimmer of Hope?
Then, I found a simpler tool! (I wish I could remember the exact name… It was something generic-sounding, like “Counter Program”). It was basically a little window with plus and minus buttons. I could set it up in OBS as a window capture, and it worked! Kind of.
The problem? It only counted up or down. No fancy features, no automatic resets, nothing. And, of course, I still had to click it manually every time. Better than the text box, but still not ideal.

Giving Up (For Now)
Honestly, I spent a good few hours on this, and I’m still not completely there. The little counter program is okay, I guess, but it’s not the “big ticker” I was hoping for. I might revisit this later if I find a simpler solution, or maybe I’ll just give up and stick to my trusty spreadsheet. Sometimes, the old ways are the best, right?
The best solution I get for now:
- Get the counter program.
- Config OBS Studio to catch this desktop app.
- Done.
It’s not perfect, but it does work.
