Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “altars” thing for a while, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I started with absolutely no clue what I was doing. Seriously, zero. I just saw some cool pictures online and thought, “Hey, I wanna try that!”
Getting Started (and Failing a Lot)
First, I tried to figure out what the heck these altars even were. I read some stuff online, watched a few videos, and mostly just ended up more confused. There’s, like, a million different ways to do it, and everyone has their own opinion. It was overwhelming!

My initial attempts were… rough. I’m talking total disasters. I grabbed some random stuff from around my house – a candle, a rock I found in the garden, a picture of my cat (don’t judge) – and just kinda threw it all together. It looked… well, it looked like a pile of junk on a table. Not exactly inspiring.
Figuring Out the Basics
After a few epic fails, I decided to actually do some proper research. I realized I needed to figure out my intention. What did I actually want from this altar? Was it for focus? For creativity? For chilling out? Once I had that down, things started to make a little more sense.
- Intention is key. figure out what you want the altar for.
- Gather items. Find object to match the intention.
- Clean area.Clear and clean the space where your altar will be.
My First “Real” Altar
So, I decided to create an altar for focus and productivity. Here’s what I did:
I cleared off a small table near my desk – prime real estate for getting stuff done. Then I found a nice, plain cloth to put on top. I picked a blue one because I read somewhere that blue helps with concentration (who knows if that’s true, but it looked nice!). I also cleansed the place by Sound Clearing.
Next, I added a few key items:
- A small plant: I figured a little bit of nature couldn’t hurt. Plus, plants are supposed to be good for air quality, right?
- A candle: I chose a white one, for clarity and, you know, general good vibes.
- A crystal: I have this clear quartz crystal that I’ve always liked. It just feels… sharp and focused, I guess.
- A notebook and pen: This is where I jot down ideas and intentions related to my work.
The Results (So Far)
Honestly, I was surprised by how much I liked having this little altar setup. It’s not magic or anything, but it does help me get into the right headspace for work. When I sit down at my desk, seeing the altar reminds me of my intentions. It’s like a visual cue to get my brain in gear.

It’s still a work in progress, though. I’m constantly tweaking things, adding new items, and rearranging stuff. I think that’s part of the fun – experimenting and seeing what works. The point which I got is,It’s all about the feeling you get from it. If it feels right, it probably is!
