Alright, folks, gather ’round! Today, I’m gonna share a little story from my own gaming life – how I, playing as my Tarnished character, first bumped into Melina in Elden Ring. It’s a pretty basic thing, but hey, we all start somewhere, right?
The Setup
So, picture this: I’d just created my character, all fresh-faced and ready to get pulverized by the Grafted Scion. Of course, I died. That’s part of the deal, I found out
The First Steps
Then boom, I’m waking up in the Stranded Graveyard. I poked around, found some * walk around to get familiar with the game, and beat some easy monster to up my level.
- Checked all the controls, messed with the camera – you know, the usual newbie stuff.
- I did the tutorial cave. Super important, don’t skip it!
- Got out into the open world, Limgrave. Wow, that view!
Finding Grace… and Her
I wandered around, saw that Tree Sentinel guy, and thought, “Nope, not yet.” I kept exploring, mostly just trying not to die. I discovered some of those Sites of Grace – little checkpoints of glowing light. After I had to get to at least three of them.
It was at one of these Sites of Grace, I think it was the one near the Gatefront Ruins, that I triggered a cutscene, rested there, and… there she was!
Melina, all mysterious and ethereal-like, just appeared. She offered me an accord. She’d be my maiden, let me turn runes into strength, and give me Torrent, the spectral steed(the horse).
The Deal
I, of course, said yes! Who wouldn’t? I mean, leveling up is kinda crucial in this game. And having a horse? Huge bonus for getting around that massive world.
My Takeaway
It was a pretty simple encounter, really. Rest at enough Sites of Grace, and bam, Melina shows up. But it was also a big moment. It felt like the real start of the adventure. I had a purpose, a companion (sort of), and a sweet horse.
From then on, I could meet her at certain Sites of Grace to chat and level up. She became a familiar face in a pretty unforgiving world.
So, that’s my story of how destiny, or at least the game’s programming, brought my Tarnished and Melina together. Nothing super fancy, but a key moment nonetheless. Hope you enjoyed my little trip down memory lane!
