Alright, so I finally decided to dive back into “At the Mounds of Madness 2”. I played the first one ages ago, and honestly, I’ve been putting off the sequel because, well, it looked intense. But, I saw a few streams, got hyped up, and figured it was time to give it a shot.
Getting Started (Again)
First thing I did was try to remember the controls. I’m so use to playing other games, I need refresh my memory!

I fumbled around for a bit, accidentally shooting at walls and generally looking like a noob. It took a good 15 minutes of just running around in the starting area to get the hang of things again.
Setting the Mood
After I had started to adapt, I wanted a better experience of playing the game. So I made myself a big mug of coffee and started playing.
The Early Game Grind
The beginning of the game is rough. Seriously. I died, like, five times in the first hour.

The monsters are relentless, and the limited ammo situation had me sweating. I spent a lot of time just sneaking around, trying to avoid fights whenever possible. It felt more like a stealth game than a shooter for a while there.
Finding My Footing (and Some Decent Gear)
I finally started to make some real progress. I found a shotgun, which made a huge difference. Suddenly, I wasn’t quite so terrified of every shadow. I also stumbled across a hidden area with some extra supplies, which was a lifesaver.
That One Crazy Set Piece
And oh boy. I got to that one part with the giant, tentacled…thing. I don’t even want to spoil it, but let’s just say I screamed. Loudly. It was a tough fight, I used up almost all of my ammo and health packs, but I managed to take it down. The adrenaline rush was insane.

Where I Left Off
I played for about four hours straight, and I’m completely hooked. I’m still not very far into the game, I think, but I’m feeling pretty good about my progress. I’m definitely going to need to stock up on ammo and health before I continue, though.
Thoughts So Far
“At the Mounds of Madness 2” is hard, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. The atmosphere is amazing, the monsters are terrifying, and the gameplay is tense and engaging. It’s definitely not a game for the faint of heart, but if you’re up for a challenge, I highly recommend it. I know I’ll be playing more tomorrow!
