Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with CM Punk for, like, forever. And his tattoos? Iconic. Especially that chest piece. I finally decided to take the plunge and get something inspired by it, but not a direct copy, you know? I wanted it to be my own thing, but still have that Punk vibe.
First things first, I spent hours scouring the internet. Seriously, I dove deep into forums, fan pages, even tattoo artist portfolios, looking at every picture of Punk’s chest tattoo I could find. I wanted to get a feel for the elements, the style, the whole deal.
Then came the fun part – figuring out what I wanted. I knew I liked the bold lines and the overall placement, but I didn’t want all the same imagery. I’m a huge fan of, like, vintage horror, so I started thinking about how to incorporate that.
Finding the Right Artist
Next up: finding an artist. This was crucial. I needed someone who understood the aesthetic I was going for, someone who was comfortable with bold lines and a bit of an “old school” feel. I checked out a bunch of local shops, looked at their online portfolios, and read a ton of reviews. I finally settled on this one artist whose work just clicked with what I had in mind.
The Design Process
We had a consultation, and I basically dumped all my ideas on him. I brought in printouts of Punk’s tattoo, pictures of vintage horror movie posters, and even some sketches I’d done (they were terrible, but hey, it helped get the idea across!). He listened, asked a bunch of questions, and then started sketching.
We went back and forth a few times, tweaking things here and there. I wanted to make sure the placement was just right, that it flowed with my body. It was a collaborative process, which I really appreciated. He wasn’t just copying something; he was helping me create something unique.
Getting Inked!
Finally, the day arrived! I was nervous, but also super excited. The artist was awesome, very professional, and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process. It took a few hours, and yeah, it hurt in some spots (especially near the collarbone!), but it was totally worth it.
The result? I’m absolutely thrilled. It’s got that CM Punk feel, that bold, in-your-face attitude, but it’s also totally me. The vintage horror elements are subtle but definitely there, and the whole thing just looks badass. I didn’t get all the spider *’s a piece I’m incredibly proud of, and it’s a constant reminder to be true to myself, just like Punk always is.
