Okay, so today I decided to dive into something I’ve been curious about for a while – the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match. I’m a huge wrestling fan, and this was a landmark moment, so I wanted to really experience it from start to finish.
First, I gathered my snacks. You can’t watch wrestling without snacks, that’s just a rule. Popcorn, soda, the works. Then I settled into my comfiest chair, ready to go.

Reliving the Action
I fired up the WWE Network (thank goodness for on-demand stuff!) and found the 2018 Royal Rumble. I skipped through the earlier matches, I was just eager to fast to the women’s rumble,I wanted to get to the good stuff.
The intro video package started playing, and man, did it get me hyped! It showed all the legendary women from the past and the current roster, all talking about how big of a deal this was. I got goosebumps, no lie.
- Then, the countdown started… 3… 2… 1… and Sasha Banks’ music hit! The crowd went wild, and I was right there with them, cheering in my living room.
- Becky Lynch came out next, and the match was officially on!
I won’t go through every single entrance and elimination (we’d be here all day!), but I have to mention some highlights. Seeing Trish Stratus and Lita come back was incredible. They’re legends! And Molly Holly hitting that Molly-Go-Round? Classic!
It was super cool to see how they mixed the current stars with the returning legends. It felt like a real passing of the torch moment. There were some surprise entrants too, which always gets a pop from me.
The final four came down to Sasha Banks, Asuka, and the Bella Twins. The tension was insane! I was literally on the edge of my seat, yelling at the TV.
In the end, Asuka won by eliminating Nikki Bella. It was a well-deserved victory, and the crowd was electric. Confetti rained down, Asuka pointed to the WrestleMania sign, and I felt like I’d witnessed history.
Watching it all unfold, even knowing the outcome, was awesome. It really hit me how far women’s wrestling has come. This match was a celebration of that, and I’m glad I took the time to experience it again.
