Okay, so I’ve been digging into some old wrestling footage lately, and I got totally sucked into the AJ Styles rabbit hole, specifically his TNA stuff. Man, that dude was on another level back then!
I started by just browsing through some random matches on YouTube, you know, just to get a feel for it. I watched some of his matches against Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels – absolute classics! The athleticism, the moves, the drama… it was all there.

Then, I got a bit more systematic. I made a list of, like, the “must-watch” AJ Styles TNA matches. You know, the ones everyone always talks about? The ones that get mentioned in all those “best of” lists. I found some really old forum threads and I use it!
My Watchlist
- vs. Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels (Unbreakable 2005): Everyone says this is one of the greatest matches of all time, so I had to see it.
- vs. Kurt Angle (Hard Justice 2008): Angle was a beast, and seeing him go up against Styles… I was pumped.
- vs. Sting: I search this match on the internet, and the video’s quality are so bad.
- Various X-Division matches: Because, let’s be real, AJ was the king of the X-Division.
So, I started working my way through the list. I watched the Unbreakable three-way match first, and holy crap, it lived up to the hype. Those guys were flying around the ring like it was nothing. The near-falls, the innovative offense… I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Seriously, I probably jumped out of my chair at least five times.
Next up was the Kurt Angle match. I watched it. It was different from the three-way, a lot more technical, but still awesome. Angle was such a machine, and Styles just kept finding ways to counter him. It was a real chess match, but with, you know, suplexes and stuff.
I also watched some great matches against Sting, and they are so classic.
I’m still working my way through all the X-Division stuff. There’s just so much of it! But it’s all been gold so far. It’s amazing to see how Styles evolved over the years, from this high-flying youngster to the more polished veteran he is today. But even back then, you could see the raw talent and the potential. The guy was just destined for greatness.
That my whole experience! So much fun!
