Okay, so I wanted to get a Genshin live stream going. Here’s how the whole thing went down, step by step.
Figuring Out the Software
First things first, I needed some streaming software. I’ve messed around with OBS Studio before, so that was my go-to. I downloaded the latest version, just to make sure I had all the newest features. Nothing fancy there, just a straightforward install.
Setting Up OBS
Next, I opened up OBS. It can look a bit intimidating at first, but it’s not that bad. I created a new “Scene” – think of it like a container for all the stuff you’ll be showing on stream. Then I added a “Game Capture” source, and told it to look for Genshin Impact. Oh man the setting is so difficult for a newbie!
Audio Time
I made a new scene.
- Added an “Audio Input Capture” source for my microphone.
- Added an “Audio Output Capture” source to grab the game’s sound.
- I fiddled with the volume levels until it sounded about right. Don’t want to blast people’s ears out, you know?
Getting the Stream Key
time for some account works. I headed over to my streaming platform of choice (I’m using that platform that start with “T”,for now), and found my “Stream Key” in the * key is super important – it’s like the password that lets OBS send the video to your channel.
Back to OBS
I jumped back into OBS, went into the “Settings”, and found the “Stream” section. I picked my streaming platform from the dropdown menu, and then carefully pasted in that Stream Key. Double-checked it to make sure I didn’t mess it up.
Test Run!
Before going live for real, I did a test stream. Just hit that “Start Streaming” button in OBS, played Genshin for a few minutes, and then checked the stream on my channel to see how it looked. It’s always a good idea to check for any weirdness before you have actual viewers!
Going Live
Once I was happy with everything, I actually went live! I typed up a quick title and description for the stream, hit that “Start Streaming” button again, and started playing. I kept an eye on the chat to see if anyone showed up and said * really took me a long time.
Wrapping Up
When I was done, I hit the “Stop Streaming” button in OBS, said goodbye to anyone who was watching, and that was it! Streaming can be a bit of a process to set up, but once you’ve done it a few times, it gets way easier.
