So today, I wanted to mess around with that LA Knight finisher, you know, the Blunt Force Trauma. I’ve seen it on TV a bunch and figured, why not give it a shot? Not on a person, of course, just practicing the moves.
Getting Started
First off, I watched a few clips online to get the basics down. It’s basically a jumping cutter, but with some extra flair that Knight adds. He jumps, grabs the opponent’s head, and they both come crashing down. Easy enough, right?
Practicing the Jump
I started with the jump. This is kinda crucial. I found a soft mat in my garage, just in case I messed up, and started jumping. I tried to get some air, just like LA Knight does. At first, I felt like a total goof. My jumps were, let’s say, not very graceful. But, I kept at it, jumping and trying to get higher each time. After a while, I started to feel a bit more comfortable with it. Not perfect, but better.
Adding the Grab
Next up, the head grab. I used a pillow for this – my wife wasn’t too thrilled with the idea of me practicing wrestling moves on her. I’d jump and try to grab the pillow mid-air, mimicking how Knight grabs his opponent’s head. This was trickier. My timing was all off. Sometimes I’d grab too early, sometimes too late. A couple of times, I just missed the pillow altogether and landed flat on the mat. It was a bit of a mess, honestly.
Putting It Together
Once I felt like I wasn’t going to break my neck, I tried to put it all together. Jump, grab, and land. It took a ton of tries. I’m talking dozens. I was sweating, the mat was getting all messed up, and I probably looked ridiculous. But then, it happened. I jumped, grabbed the pillow, and we both landed on the mat in something that vaguely resembled LA Knight’s finisher. It wasn’t pretty, but it was close enough. I felt a little rush, like yeah, I kinda did it!
Final Thoughts
So, can I pull off the Blunt Force Trauma like LA Knight? Not even close. The guy’s a pro, and I’m just a dude messing around in his garage. But it was fun to try. It’s way harder than it looks on TV. I have a new respect for those wrestlers, for sure. Maybe I’ll stick to watching them do it instead of trying it myself, but for a day, it felt pretty cool to give it a shot.
Oh, and if you decide to try this at home? Be careful, maybe use a softer mat, and don’t blame me if you end up on your butt. It happens.
