Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with something I’ve been thinking about for a while – making a newspaper, but for the game Genshin Impact. Yeah, I know, it sounds kinda niche, but hear me out. I’m a huge fan of the game, and I always thought it’d be cool to have, like, a proper in-game newspaper covering all the happenings in Teyvat.
First, I started brainstorming what kind of sections this newspaper would even have. Of course, there’s got to be news, right? Like, reporting on recent events or updates in the game. Maybe an interview section with different characters, or a showcase of cool fan art or in-game photography. A guide section would also be helpful, perhaps for beginners, or just a general tips and tricks section. Or, like a classifieds section, where players can advertise their co-op needs or something. And of course, no newspaper is complete without some fun stuff like comics or crosswords, but Genshin themed.
Then came the fun part – actually designing it. I opened up my trusty old image editor and started playing around with different layouts. It was important to me to capture the vibe of Genshin, you know? So, I made sure to use a lot of the game’s visual elements, like the fonts and color schemes. I looked at some real-life newspapers for inspiration, too. I wanted it to look legit, like something you’d actually find in the game world.
My Design Notes
- Font: Went with the classic Genshin Impact font for the headlines, and a readable serif font for the body text.
- Colors: I stuck to the game’s color palette – lots of blues, golds, and earthy tones.
- Layout: I decided on a three-column layout, which seemed to work best for the type of content I envisioned.
- Images: I grabbed some screenshots from the game to use as visuals and made sure they were high quality.
After a few hours of tweaking and rearranging, I finally had a layout I was happy with. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a good start. I filled in some placeholder text and images just to get a feel for how it would look once it was all filled out. I even made a mock-up of what an interview with, say, Zhongli might look like.
The next step, I figured, would be to actually write the content. I started jotting down some news pieces, like the latest event or a new character release. For the interview section, I thought it would be fun to write it in-character, imagining how different personalities in the game would respond to questions. I sketched out a rough draft of a comic strip featuring Paimon, naturally. For crosswords and puzzles, I began thinking up some clues and words based on the in-game lore and characters.
This whole thing is still a work in progress, obviously. I mean, I’m just one guy doing this for fun in my spare time. But it’s been a blast so far, and I’m pretty excited to see where it goes. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll actually have a full issue of this Genshin newspaper. Wouldn’t that be something? A print edition maybe? And maybe there could even be a special “Letters to the Editor” section for the Traveler.
