Okay, so today I wanted to dig into the Milwaukee Brewers vs. Phillies game and pull out some player stats. It’s always fun to see how everyone did, right?
First, I opened up my browser and started searching for recent games between these two teams. I found a few different websites that had some info, but not everything I was looking for.
Finding the Right Info
I needed a site that had detailed player stats, not just the overall team scores. I stumbled upon a couple of sources that mentioned box scores and head-to-head records. That sounded promising!
- One site had the full box score for a game on June 04, 2024.
- Another had the Brewers’ record against the Phillies for the whole of 2024. It showed they had a 2-4 record, not the best, huh?
I kept digging and found a site that listed the head-to-head record, including the biggest wins and losses between them. It seemed like the Phillies had won more games overall, 73 to the Brewers’ 50. Ouch.
There was mention of a game on September 18th where the Brewers beat the Phillies 2-1. Attendance was 30,048, and the game lasted 2 hours and 41 minutes. That’s some specific detail!
Compiling the Stats
I started copying down the stats from various sources, trying to piece together a clear picture. There was a lot of data to sift through, like at-bats, runs, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, RBIs… you name it. It was a bit of a mess, to be honest. These sites weren’t always organized the best way.
One news article talked about a game where Nick Castellanos hit an RBI double in the 10th inning to win it for the Phillies. Alec Bohm had tied the game earlier with a solo homer. That sounded like an exciting game!
Putting It All Together
After a while, I had a decent collection of stats. I started organizing them into a simple spreadsheet. Nothing fancy, just enough to see who did what in each game.
For example, from the September 18th game:
- Brewers: Won 2-1
- Phillies: Lost 2-1
Then, I looked at the overall record for 2024:
- Brewers vs. Phillies: 2 wins, 4 losses
And the historical head-to-head:
- Phillies: 73 wins, 567 total runs
- Brewers: 50 wins, 483 total runs
It took some time, but I finally had a basic overview of the player stats for these two teams. It’s not super in-depth, but it’s a good start. Maybe next time I’ll dive deeper into individual player performances. It’s a bit of work, but hey, it’s fun to see all the numbers come together!
