Okay, so, I messed around with this “triwing crosshair” thing in Overwatch 2 today. I’m not some pro gamer, just a regular dude who likes to shoot things in video games. Anyway, I saw some people talking about custom crosshairs and how they can supposedly make you a better shot, so I figured, why not?
First, I jumped into a practice game. I wanted to see what the default crosshair looked like and how it felt. It was alright, nothing special. Then, I went into the settings. It’s kind of buried in there, under the “Controls” and then “Options” tab. You gotta scroll down a bit to find the “Crosshair” section. Once there, I selected “Advanced” options to see what I could tweak.
I changed the “Type” to “Crosshairs”. Then, I started playing around with the settings. From what I gathered, the “triwing” thing basically means a crosshair with three lines instead of the usual four. I set the “Thickness” to 1, figured I wanted something thin and precise. “Crosshair Length” got set to 5. I just eyeballed it until it looked like a small, tight cross. I didn’t see an option for a 3-line crosshair, so I messed with the “Center Gap” setting, leaving it at zero. I turned off the “Dot” in the middle, didn’t want anything blocking my view. I also noticed options for “Opacity” and “Outline Opacity”, but I just left them at 100%.
- Type: Crosshairs
- Thickness: 1
- Crosshair Length: 5
- Center Gap: 0
- Opacity: 100%
- Outline Opacity: 100%
- Dot Size: 0
- Dot Opacity: 0%
After setting all that, I hopped back into a practice game and tried it out. Honestly, it felt a little weird at first. It’s definitely smaller and less obtrusive than the default one. I played a few rounds with Ana, since she’s a hero that really needs precise aim. I had to do some shooting to get used to it. It took some time, but I started to see why people might like this. It’s less clutter on the screen, and you can really focus on the center. Did it make me instantly amazing? Nope. But I can see how with practice, a smaller, more precise crosshair could help with aim. It’s all about lining up those shots!
I spent a good hour just messing around, switching between heroes and seeing how it felt. I even tried it with some hitscan heroes like Soldier: 76 and Cassidy. I think it’s something I’ll keep messing with. Maybe I’ll tweak the length a bit more, or the opacity. It’s all about finding what works for you.
So yeah, that’s my experience with the triwing crosshair in Overwatch 2. It’s not some magic bullet, but it’s definitely worth trying out if you’re looking to improve your aim. Just remember to spend some time practicing with it, and don’t be afraid to experiment with the settings until you find something that feels right. At the end of the day I felt like it was good enough for me. It’s definitely an option to take advantage of.
My Final Thoughts
It was fun. I think you guys can try this method too!
