Okay, so the other day I was messing around with “Honkai: Star Rail,” you know, that game everyone’s been playing? I was just letting my characters chill in the Astral Express, and I noticed Yunli’s idle animation. It’s pretty cool, right? She’s got this whole elegant vibe going on. I thought, “I bet I can do something fun with this.”
First, I launched the game. Gotta see that animation in action, yeah? I selected Yunli and just watched her for a bit. She does that little twirl, adjusts her hair, and then gives this sort of knowing look. Super detailed. I was like, okay, I need to capture this somehow.
So then, I grabbed my phone. Thought about recording the screen, but nah, the quality wouldn’t be good enough. I needed something better. I remembered I had OBS Studio on my PC. It’s a software program for recording or streaming your screen. It is useful for me. Perfect for this kind of thing.
I fired up OBS and set up a new scene. It’s actually pretty easy, you just add a “Game Capture” source and choose “Honkai: Star Rail.” Then I made sure the settings were all good – high resolution, good frame rate, the works. You want that smooth animation, you know?
Next, I went back to the game and just let Yunli do her thing. I hit record in OBS and captured a few cycles of her idle animation. I probably did it like five or six times, just to make sure I had enough footage to work with.
After that, it was editing time. I imported the raw footage into my video editor. Nothing fancy, just a basic one I had lying around. I trimmed the clips down to just the best parts of the animation and stitched them together. I even added a little bit of slow motion in some parts, just to emphasize her movements. Makes it look even more graceful, if you ask me.
Finally, I exported the edited video. I just saved it on my computer for now, maybe I’ll post it online somewhere later. But yeah, that’s pretty much it. A fun little project, all thanks to Yunli and her cool idle animation. It’s amazing what you can do with a little bit of creativity and some basic tools, right?
- Launch the game and observe the idle animation.
- Set up OBS Studio for game capture.
- Record multiple cycles of the animation.
- Edit the footage, trimming and adding slow motion.
- Export the final video.
Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed doing this. It wasn’t anything too complicated, but it was a nice way to appreciate the details in the game. Maybe I’ll try this with other characters too. We’ll see. It is fun to me! I love doing this.
