Okay, so today I wanna talk about this game, Hades 2. You might’ve heard of the first one, Hades, it was pretty popular. Well, this is the sequel, and I’ve been giving it a go. Let me tell you, it’s been a ride.
First off, I started by downloading the early access version. See, the full game isn’t out yet, but they released this early version in May 2024, so you can try it out. I jumped right in, eager to see what they’d changed from the first game.
New System
- One big difference I noticed right away was the card system. In the first game, you had this mirror to upgrade your abilities, but now it’s all about these cards. They do kinda the same thing, letting you boost your character, but it felt different, you know? I spent some time figuring out which cards worked best for me.
And get this, you’re supposed to switch these things called trinkets after each boss. Trinkets! Sounds funny, right? But yeah, they give you different bonuses, so I started swapping them around to see how it affected my runs.
The gameplay itself? They’ve added these “omega” abilities, which are like special moves for each weapon. I experimented with them a lot, and they really change how you play. Some of them are super powerful, and I had a blast trying out different combos.
Character
- Now, about the story – you play as Melinoe, not Zagreus from the first game. I know some folks were wondering if Zagreus would be back, but nope. He’s only in it for like, a tiny cameo. No big deal, though, Melinoe is cool too.
So, I kept playing, trying different things, different cards, different weapons, different omega abilities. Sometimes I’d get a good run going, other times not so much. It really depends on what boons you get. Boons are basically blessings from the gods that give you different powers. It’s all a bit random, but that’s part of the fun, I guess.
They just released this “Olympic Update” too, so I’ve been checking that out. New stuff to play with, which is always exciting. Overall, even though it’s still early access, I’m really enjoying Hades 2. It’s got that same addictive gameplay as the first one, but with enough new stuff to keep it fresh. If you liked the first game, or if you’re just looking for something fun to play, I’d definitely recommend giving it a shot.
