Today I’ve been messing around with this Black Myth: Wukong game, and let me tell you, it’s been a headache. The game has a good reputation, but it is really a memory hog. I started up the game, and right off the bat, during the shader compilation thing, it threw an “out of memory” error at me. Seriously? I just got this rig, and it’s already choking.
So, I did what any normal person would do – I started googling. Turns out, I’m not the only one scratching my head over this. Seems like a bunch of folks with those fancy 13th or 14th-gen Intel CPUs are running into the same wall. They say it’s some kind of “stability issue”. What a headache, honestly.
The game is supposed to walk you through setting up the display and audio stuff after the shader thing, but nope, not for me. It just crashes. It is very annoying.
I tried a whole bunch of things to fix it. Lowered the graphics settings, closed all the other programs – basically, anything to free up memory. No dice. Updated drivers, messed with virtual memory, you name it. This game’s stubborn.
After hours of this nonsense, I stumbled upon some obscure forum post. This guy was talking about how he tweaked some power settings in the BIOS, and it worked for him. I was skeptical, but hey, I was desperate. So, I dove into my BIOS, changed a few things based on what he said. I do not know what I was doing at all. And you know what? It actually worked!
Here’s what I did in the BIOS:
- First, I went into the power settings.
- Then, I found something called “Performance Mode” and switched it off. Turned out it will make things unstable.
- After that, I found some CPU voltage settings and bumped them up a bit, just like the forum guy suggested. Don’t overdo this, though.
- Lastly, I Saved the changes and rebooted.
After all that, I fired up the game again, held my breath, and boom! It went right past the shader compilation without a hiccup. I couldn’t believe it. Finally, I could actually play the game. I had thought that my new rig will not be able to handle the game, but I fixed it. The game now works very well.
Honestly, it’s a bit ridiculous that we have to go through all this trouble for a game. But hey, at least I got it working. If you’re running into the same problem, give these BIOS tweaks a shot. It might just save you a lot of frustration.
Anyway, that’s my saga with Black Myth: Wukong. It’s a cool game, but man, it gave me a run for my money. Hopefully, the developers will sort out these issues soon, so others don’t have to become tech wizards just to play the game. It is really a game that deserves attention, and it is really beautiful!
