So, I was really looking forward to this new update for Zenless Zone Zero, especially because of this character, Zhu Yuan. The buzz was that she’s a top-tier damage dealer, and who doesn’t want that, right? Anyway, the date was set for July 24th, 2024, which felt like ages away when the game first dropped on July 4th.
I started digging around to see what all the fuss was about. Turns out, Zhu Yuan is a limited S-rank character. In my simple words, this means she’s pretty rare and powerful. She’s got this Attack role and deals something called Ether-aspected damage. Sounds cool, but all I cared about was that she could potentially out-damage my current favorite, Ellen. And let’s be honest, she’s supposed to be better than any of the standard A or S-rank agents in the game.
I marked my calendar and started counting down the days. July 24th finally rolled around, and I was pumped. I logged into the game and saw that her banner was live. For those who don’t know, banners are basically these gacha mechanics where you can pull for specific characters or weapons. It’s like a lottery, but way more fun.
I had been saving up my resources, so I started pulling. It’s always a bit of a gamble, but I was hoping to get lucky. And guess what? I did! Zhu Yuan popped up on my screen, and I was ecstatic. But it wasn’t just her. I also managed to get her signature W-Engine, called The Riot Suppressor Mark VI. I heard it makes her even more powerful, so that was a huge bonus.

What Made Me Try Zhu Yuan?
Well, besides all the hype, I saw that the update also included Nicole and Ben as rate-up A characters. That meant there was a higher chance of getting them too, which was neat. Plus, there were supposed to be some new events starting with the patch. More content is always a good thing, right?
After playing around with Zhu Yuan for a bit, I can say she definitely lives up to the hype. Her damage output is insane, and she just feels great to play. It’s been a blast trying out different team compositions with her. All in all, this update was totally worth the wait. If you’re playing Zenless Zone Zero, I’d say definitely give Zhu Yuan a shot if you can. You won’t regret it!
